This is an excellent book, being a collection of engravings by Pinelli. There are 27 engraved plates all depicting various places in Rome. The book itself is quite rare -- there is currently only one other copy offered online (for over $1,200). We are offering our copy for substantially less.
The condition of the binding is Fair to Good. The structure is tight and sound, but the gutters are split and the spine has been repaired with black binders tape (like a faux morocco). The boards are marbled paper, some chiping at the edges, leather corners dry and chipping with some loss. But the binding is secure and sound. There is a lending library statement on the front pastedown. The text consists of a title page and list of plates, followed by the plates and their cover-pages. The plates range from Fair to Very Good. Photos, below, provide a good sampling of condition. Some have spots on the margins, but many of them have some "bleeding" or shadowing -- on the other end of the spectrum, many of them are quite clean without any bleeding. The paper is of a thick variety. Each plate has a cover page, though a small portion of the cover pages appear to have been trimmed down from the margins whereas most cover pages are full page. Overall a great collectible book in overall average condition and priced accordingly.
