We are happy to offer one of the more interesting reads you will ever find. The first 24 page section details some of the problems in the colony of Georgia, but the 101 page "appendix" that follows is the most interesting as it is mostly a compilation of letters from the likes of Monroe, Oglethorpe, and others involved in the early settlement. Much of the controversy revolves around mismanagement of the colony and focuses primarily upon Darien, Savannah, Augusta, and Frederica.
This is the first edition of this book, and it is a true rarity in any condition; however, the condition of the present example far exceeds any we've seen on the market. The text is very clean with minimal to no foxing, only slight age toning, and nice paper. The half-title does have an old number written at the top (see photos), but it would be difficult to find a cleaner copy than this, overall. Any imperfections are slight. The binding is Very Good, early 1800s, half-morroco over marbled boards and end-papers. Imperfections in binding can be seen in photos with the only really notable flaw being the cracked hinge between the half-title and title pages. The book is securely bound and of course is complete in all respects. This is certainly the finest antiquarian collectible copy on the market today and likely the finest one that will come up for sale for many decades to come.
