This work contains instruction on the method, practice and interpretation of art as well as information about some of the best-known painters. The present example is in excellent antiquarian collection condition. It is in it's original speckled calf boards, well restored, rebacked with original spine laid on, sound in construction and ready to be handled without worry. Period style marbled endpages, rubbed to a nice finish and sheen. Internally, the book is very clean, much better than average, with notable flaws being the renewed front blank leaf and two old paper repairs to the corners on the reverse side of the frontis illustration. Tightly bound, nice paper, a very nice book and the best antiquarian example currently on the market.
