This is a very rare imprint from Mobile, Alabama in the early 1800s. Produced in small numbers, this nice 3 volume set contains the historically important writings of the "master builder" of the Constitution of the United States. Rarely do we find a 19th century American printing without heavy foxing due to the paper used at the time, but the present set is very clean and was printed on a high quality paper that has remained bright and fresh over the years. Unique to the set are the calf leather bindings; most early American bindings were sheep leather of lower quality.
The condition of this set is Very Good overall. Bindings have no splits at the hinges, nice marbled endpapers, some edgewear, some staining to covers. All bindings are intact and sound. Internally, one hinge of volume one is cracked about midway through, but all is intact and the binding sound. Foxing to blank endpages and the facsimiles at the rear of volume 3, inscription on rear blank of same volume, some old corner-staining present in all volumes and light sporadic foxing in some places. Overall, this is a very clean set in Very Good antiquarian collectible condition.
