Addison's reputation of honesty, friendliness, and fast service is a point of pride for us. Not only do we ahere to the code of ethics published by the ABAA, we exceed those standards as well. Below are a few specific examples of how we exceed the standards of the ABAA and/or similar trade organizations:
-- Addison’s insists on numerous photos being posted with every item description so as to give the client the most accurate possible representation of the book; a written description alone, now matter how detailed, does not meet our standards. We place great importance on informing the buyer of exactly what they are buying, before they make the purchase. This is why we have never, not once, had an item returned.
-- If we ever do need to process a refund, our return/exchange policies are more lenient than the ABAA requires of its members. Specifically, we allow for exchanges even if the buyer simply changes his or her mind when they receive it. The reason we are more lenient in this way is because we want our clients to be happy with their purchase. We all know what it is like to receive an item and think to ourselves, "It's okay, but now I'm thinking maybe I should have purchased the other book instead...." Not a problem, as long as you are buying from us.
-- Another way we exceed ABAA standards is that we also insist on keeping client names confidential (unless clients offer to write a testimonial), which is important for some of our higher profile buyers. Most reading this would recognize some of our clients names if we were to publicize them, but we believe this to be in poor taste and not in the interest of our clients.
-- Our shipping standards of less than 24 hour processing, expedited shipping methods, as well as delivery and signature confirmation also go far beyond the standards set by the ABAA or any similar trade organization. We use only Priority or Express shipping. Shipping methods such as media mail or surface mail do not meet our standards. As for handling time, it will never take us longer than 24 business hours to have your item in the mail and on its way to you -- we even ship on Saturdays for purchases made on Friday.
While the standards of the ABAA are commendable and helpful in promoting good standards in the trade, Addison's asks a little more of ourselves. We believe we can do better, and we prove it with every transaction. In short, Addison’s sets
the standard. You, our clients, are our “governing body,” because without your business, our business would not exist.
